The Cost of Caring

Over the years, El Centro Regional Medical Center has a rich tradition of caring. To this end, the Board of Trustees has authorized the building expansion and renovation project and is financing it through revenue bonds and the Building on a Legacy of Caring Campaign. The bonds will cover the costs of construction and the tax-deductible gifts will provide for the needs outlined below. In total, they will meet the demands placed upon ECRMC in improving the medical services and the quality of life for everyone in the Imperial Valley.

The following summarizes the costs and sources of funds required to complete the project.

Construction and Related Costs


  • Construction and site work for 66,000 square feet, 2-story building, the creation of the new entrance, lobby, information center, central registration area, gift shop, and chapel: $32,943,300

  • Renovation of existing facilities, equipment and furnishings for new building, exterior redesign, additional parking and improved landscaping: $2,000,000

  • Non-construction fees: $10,856,700

Total Costs: $45,800,000



Funding the Project

  • Tax-exempt bonds (repaid by ECRMC over 25 years): $39,300,000

  • Hospital contribution: $4,500,000

  • Fund-raising campaign Building on a Legacy of Caring: $2,000,000

Total Funds: $45,800,000
