Expansion and Modernization

has expanded it’s bed capacity to 165 beds with the addition of the new modernization and expansion project of 2003. The new building is a two-story state-of-the-art acute care hospital with a roof-top helipad.

On the ground floor, the expansion includes a new 20-bed Emergency Department, five new and large surgical suites and two large Endoscopy / Broncoscopy Rooms, all with accompanying preparation and recovery patient rooms. The out patient recovery area offers the patient a relaxing landscape and corresponding sound tracks to promote relaxation and recovery.

The second floor includes a new “state-of-the-art” twelve bed Intensive Care Unit and a beautiful forty-eight bed Medical-Surgical floor. There are a total of fourteen private rooms in the Medical-Surgical area, seven of which may be utilized as negative pressure (isolation) rooms and one as a positive pressure room.

In the older section of the building, there are an additional sixty-four beds in Medical-Surgical Units and an additional eight-bed Intensive Care Unit that will continue to be used, especially during the busier times of the year in the winter months.

The Obstetrics Unit has two modernized Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Post-Partum (LDRP) rooms as well as another seventeen semi-private rooms. Three more LDRP rooms are planned to be constructed in a new 2004 project.

The Pediatrics Unit is an eight bed unit that will be expanded to a twenty-two bed unit when it is moved to an existing medical-surgical unit in 2004.

In addition, the second phase of the building project is complete. The new connecting facility houses a spacious new lobby, gift shop, and admitting/registration area. This new building connects the old hospital units with the new hospital units, and creates a new central Hospital Entrance.
