Patients and Visitors
Private Rooms Patients are admitted to El Centro Regional Medical Center through a physician order or through the emergency room physicians. Upon receiving the order for admission, the nurse supervisor will assign the patient a room. ECRMC uses its best efforts to give every patient a private room.
Patient Valuables ECRMC recommends that patients do not bring valuable items to the hospital. If you do bring a valuable item to the hospital, we recommend that you send your valuables home with a family member or allow us to put the item in the hospital safe for it’s protection. Please let a member of the care team know that you want us to safe keep your valuables.
Items to Bring to the Hospital Most likely, when you arrive, we will put your clothing in a plastic bag and give you a hospital gown to wear. Please bring one set of comfortable clothing to wear home upon discharge, such as a sweat pants and loose fitting shirt. While you will not need to bring many clothes, most patients like to have their own robe and the following personal items: toothbrush and toothpaste, razor, hairbrush or comb, deodorant, lotion, socks and slippers. You may not bring any electrical small appliances such as hair dryers or curling irons.
Patient Privacy ECRMC is committed to patient privacy. When we register you, we will ask you if you want to be listed on our public patient list or house list. If you approve your name being on the house list, we will forward visitors and phone calls to your hospital room. Only two visitors will be allowed in your room at any one time. ECRMC limits visitors to keep the hospital safe and quiet so that patients may heal in a peaceful environment.
If you do not want to be listed on our public patient list or house list, we will only forward visitors or phone calls that know your name and your room number. If the guest or caller does not know your room number, they will not be able to contact you. This is how we protect your privacy when you are in the hospital.
Insurance Authorization After the patient is assigned a room, a clerk will register the patient and notify the insurance company of the admission. Registration staff will work closely with the physician’s office to obtain authorization for the admission. We recommend that all patients or their family members follow-up with the insurance company to ascertain that all requirements have been met.
