The Medical Center is fully self-supporting from the revenues generated from providing health care services.

The original building was constructed and opened by the City of
El Centro in 1957. Throughout the forty plus years of operation, the Medical Center has built additional space for a variety of functions and services. In 2001, a Revenue Bond was issued for the purpose of expanding the Medical Center to comply with California Seismic Regulations. Today, the Medical Center is comprised of state-of-the-art areas for in and out patient treatment. El Centro Regional Medical Center is fully accredited by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and has a Laboratory fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists and the American Association of Blood Banks.
