The Board of El Centro Regional Medical Center (ECRMC) is pleased to announce
the appointment of Adolphe Edward, DHA, as the new Chief Executive Officer
of El Centro Regional Medical Center. Dr. Edward will join the ECRMC team
on June 27, 2016.
“We are excited to have Dr. Edward join El Centro Regional Medical
Center and to unify our team in increasing access to our services and
achieving outstanding patient care,” said Amanda Brooke, chair of
the ECRMC Board of Trustees. “One of Dr. Edward’s first tasks
will be to lead a strategic planning process for the hospital that will
address immediate opportunities for improvement and future plans for growth.”
The ECRMC Board of Trustees began a comprehensive search for a new CEO
in February, with support from ECRMC leadership, UC San Diego Health and
an external executive search firm, Healthcare Placement Group, Inc. The
process included a national search for compatible and qualified candidates,
and comprehensive assessments of ECRMC’s organizational structure,
strategic goals, and leadership needs. On Tuesday, May 31, the Board of
Trustees reviewed the top candidates and selected Dr. Edward to lead ECRMC
into the future.
Dr. Edward has more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience with
a unique combination of chief and senior executive level work at health
systems worldwide. Currently, Dr. Edward serves as the CEO of Kindred
HealthCare Inc. Long Term Acute Care hospitals in Colorado, where he has
helped to grow market share for inpatient services.
Prior to his work at Kindred Healthcare, Dr. Edward held a number of high-level
positions at hospitals across the country and globally, gaining valuable
experiences from health systems in the US, Europe and Asia. During his
tenure at each of these locations, Dr. Edward has focused on attracting
new patients and growing specialty services.
The Board expresses its gratitude to Tomas Virgen for his interim leadership.
Mr. Virgen will continue his service to ECRMC as the Chief Clinical Officer,
responsible for operational and nursing activities throughout the hospital.
Given his experience working at all levels of the organization, including
former CEO, Mr. Virgen will serve as a great asset and advisor to Dr.
Edward and senior leadership.
