Patients & Visitors
Everything you need to know as a patient or visitor of ECRMC.
ECRMC understands medical testing can be a frightening experience for many people. Whether you are a first time patient or a returning patient, every process is done in a courteous, comforting and efficient manner. The team of qualified professionals consists of certified board Pathologists, Histology technicians, Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Medical Laboratory Technicians and Certified Phlebotomy Technicians. This team is devoted to providing accurate, reliable and timely results for the diagnosis and monitoring of medical conditions.
The Robert J. Westcott Memorial laboratory at ECRMC is a full service facility, providing high quality, timely and accurate laboratory services for patients and physicians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A wide spectrum of laboratory testing is performed in the lab, allowing our physicians to have the results they need when they need them. A quick turn-around time is the result of the resources being readily available in the facility.
The laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), placing us as one of only 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide. CAP is a professional association that serves more than 17,000 physician members and the Clinical Laboratory community throughout the world. It is the world’s largest laboratory association composed exclusively of Board-certified pathologists and is widely considered the leader in Clinical Laboratory Quality Assurance. ECRMC takes pride in the standard of care the laboratory has achieved and is committed to extending that care to the community of the Imperial Valley.
The Anatomic Pathology Department provides a full spectrum of tissue pathology services from small biopsies (such as breast, cervix, gastrointestinal, prostate), bone marrows, and lymph nodes to large resections. Frozen sections, Fine Needle Aspirations (FNAs), and non-GYN cytology are also provided. Anatomic Pathology is enhanced by the excellent Histology Department which produces tissue slides, blocks and special stains for the aid in clinical diagnosis and is partnered with reference laboratories to provide esoteric histology testing such as Immuno-Histochemistry, Flow Cytometry and Cytogenetics.
Process Excellence (PEx) is a systematic approach to quality improvement drive laboratory performance. PEx draws from the methodologies of Six Sigma, Lean Thinking and Design Excellence to empower our workforce, and refine our systems and processes to reduce errors and adverse effects; achieve top performance in patient care experience; improve customer satisfaction; increase capacity and productivity; and engage patients and physicians.
We offer high quality laboratory services at two convenient locations.
