El Centro Regional Medical Center Receives Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation

EL CENTRO, CA- May 15, 2023- El Centro Regional Medical Center is proud to announce that they have been awarded the Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) Level 3 by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). This reaccreditation demonstrates that ECRMC continues to provide the highest level of emergency care for the unique needs of our older adults living in the Imperial Valley.

The Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) program is an ACEP-governed national accreditation organization that strives to improve the care of older people presenting to the emergency department. The GEDA accreditation aims to provide quality care for older adult patients.

"The certification recognizes the personalized care our Emergency Department provides to any senior adult who comes to our emergency department for medical care," said Pablo Velez, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer for ECRMC. "The certification enhances staffing, education, geriatric-focused policies, and protocols, including the transition of care, quality improvement and outcomes, and more efficient preparation of the physical environment.

"We are proud of this recognition, which demonstrates our commitment to continue providing the highest standards of care for our senior population," said Dr. Rahul Nene, Emergency Department Research Director for ECRMC and Clinical Faculty of the Department of Emergency Medicine at UCSD.

El Centro Regional Medical Center's Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our highly trained medical professionals are available 24/7 to provide emergency care for you and your loved ones.
