El Centro, CA - May 17, 2019 – Earlier this week El Centro Regional
Medical Center (ECRMC) in conjunction with CETYS University announced
a registered nurse training program to provide practicing nurses in Mexico
an opportunity to practice nursing in California. The purpose of this
program is to develop and provide participants the communication skills
related to nursing in the English language, ultimately offering the opportunity
to become employed in the hospital. To encourage participation, ECRMC
has offered to provide 100% scholarships for 15 participants who satisfactorily
meet all requirements and pass the interview process. Some of the requirements
(among others) include:
- Having a current registered nurse license in Mexico
- Scoring an English level B1 rating
- Being eligible to obtain a TN Visa
The course consists of three fundamental parts which are:
- Nursing vocabulary and terminology
- TOEFL iBT preparation course and
- NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) certification preparation course
“This is a great partnership between two world class organizations
who are teaming up to better serve the future needs for nurses. We are
excited about this and I know we will see positive results from it. An
RN who cares for his/her patients is a priceless commodity and to be able
to have in place a system that produces these national precious resources
is vital to the entire valley. I am looking forward to the outcomes”
said Dr. A. Adolphe Edward, CEO for ECRMC about the Joint partnership
between CETYS and ECRMC.
The program is open to all registered nurses licensed in Mexico who wish
to work at ECRMC and thus grow professionally. A rigorous selection process
will occur with
each candidate before being granted program entry. Each group size is limited
to 25 students.
“The Board of Trustees is committed to providing outstanding healthcare
to our community and that requires talented, energetic, and compassionate
people. We are excited about this opportunity with CETYS and look forward
to a long and successful partnership” ECRMC Board President Cheryl
Viegas-Walker said.
Interested individuals can request an English placement exam by visiting
the Language Center at CETYS University Monday through Friday from 8am to 7pm.
